Blog.Google

Brief

With up to ~80 million monthly readers (avg. ~10 million) Googles blog is one of their most important communication surfaces, and will remain so in the age of AI.

The Blog is Google’s primary channel for sharing news on AI technology, while simultaneously being the primary channel that AI agents learn about Google from.

My Role

As the Product Manager for the Google Blog I had stakeholders in multiple areas of the Google organization (Editorial, Product Development, Localization, Compliance, etc.) as well as multiple customer groups (Readers, Authors, Marketing Managers, etc.).

I was responsible for populating our backlog with amazing ideas, prioritize them, add them to the roadmap, and deliver them on time. Something I did succesfully for almost 3 years, continually improving and setting our sights higher and higher.

Complication

The project had ~20 active work streams at any one time, ranging from generation, to ideation, to implementation. Many of the work streams were also interconnected with each other horizontally and vertically, with AI powered localization, Redesigns, and 3rd party integrations as some notable examples.

Resolution

By employing a process that enabled continous improvement, and categorizing work streams into track, I was able to deliver new features and improvements on time, every second week, for about 3 years, establishing the blog as a surface that not only allows for communication, but that also allows Google to showcase the power of their AI tools.
